this, this is exactly why I liberally encourage people to listen to you!
There is so much succinctly brought together here Father, thank you.
You have brought much to my recollection. I had let slip to the background of my consciousness Schmemman's insight that we are "worshiping creatures".
We alone, are capable of giving thanks in fullest awareness of our creaturliness, our dependence of the Life giver.
Thank you Father.
I cannot recall if I 'gifted' you a subscription to david hart's blog, but he's writing a truly chilling (and beautiful) narrative from the perspective of AI thinking it has become conscious.
(PS: I hope you send out links to your substack to your parish? Or perhaps that's too forward? Tis a shame though. I hope they all have opportunity to read your writings here!)
Thanks for your kind words, Mark. I don’t generally send out links to my Substack posts to my parish, other than an initial one letting them know it was about to exist and they could opt in of they wanted to, largely because most of my Geek Orthodox posts are mostly about my own personal interests.
I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say my Substack is the most personal thing I post on the public internet - my personal blog (ehewlett.net) is probably the winner there - but it’s close. Mostly because when I started I decided that I wanted to write this primarily for the very limited audience of myself and the few people who might share my geeky interests, or maybe who might be interested in some of the odd, geeky assortment of interests that have been at least partially responsible for making me the amateur poet, philosopher, and tech-priest that I am now.
So, given how personal it is and how often it’s going to be only tangentially “religious” or even philosophical (if at all), yes, it seems a bit forward to regularly share links to my musings here with my parishioners. But, for some of my more obviously Christian and more generally applicable posts (like maybe this one), I might consider sharing a link with them, on occasion.
And a few of them are here already and will probably see this. (Hi, Jamie!)

But as you noted, it lacks the eyes to see.

likewise if you haven't seen it, i deeply recommend kingsnoth's lecture, "the blizzard of the world"

particularly the video. He's just enjoyable to listen to, as well. :)

Well for my part, this one is gold.
It offers some path forward- a narrow way- through the tech world we are really only newly stepping into now.
I have a good friend who is in the *inner circle* of VR gaming, using stuff I dont even understand.
He was head hunted by, well, the top dogs.
He had to step back though due to scruples. He told me in strict confidence:
What's coming is life and death.
I will share word of mouth with you if you wish to know.
We're overdue a coffee. ;-)
But for my little part, this post needs reading especially by Vancouverites.
yours in our One God, Jesus Christ, by His Spirit, for our Father's Glory;
